UPDATE

This week each school got access to the new SQA Connect Portal. This will enable us to enter all pupils results for each course. Over the course of the next 2 weeks Mr Clancy (DHT Performance) will meet with each Faculty Head to input estimates. This will provide a final check for accuracy as we submit our results.

AS STATED IN PREVIOUS COMMUNICATIONS WE ARE NOT ABLE TO SHARE ESTIMATES, BUT CAN ASSURE YOU THAT WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO BE FAIR, POSITIVE AND ENSURE NO PUPIL IS DISADVANTAGED.

LEARNING

Throughout the lockdown period we have tried to ensure a good balance of providing learning materials and support. There are regular communications with staff where there are difficulties around learning, access or wellbeing. At all times we wish to be sensitive to the current challenges whilst still trying to ensure our young people can progress their learning and be in the best position possible for when we return.

All year groups, except S1, have now moved on. S1 will transition into S2 from Monday the 1st June 2020. All changes will be communicated with parents/carers and invites sent to pupils to join their new classes.

Over the coming weeks we will be contacting families where engagement with learning is low and we are not aware of the circumstances. This is to ensure we can further support learning at home but, also where appropriate, to identify particular difficulties that families may be facing with regards to young people engaging with their learning tasks.

We know that circumstances may prove difficult at times, please let us know, so we can be aware, and or support if possible. We need to get the balance of keeping our young people busy and engaged, but also understand the unique set of circumstances we find ourselves in and that school work may, at times, need to take a back seat. However, if we continue to work together we can support learning, structure days better and be ready to hit the ground running when we return.

P7 Transition

Over the next few weeks we will be working with all of our associated primary schools on transitioning our current P7's into S1 for August.

There are still a few unknowns about the weeks ahead and what restrictions will be in place, however, in the meantime we have created a site specifically for transition where new pupils and their parents/carers will be able to access key information, including a virtual tour of our school facilities.

There are planned activities to support transition and these will be shared as the weeks go on. The purpose will be to get to know pupils a little better and for them to hear from some of the key members of staff they will meet in the new session.

PRIZEGIVING

Although there will be no prizegiving ceremony this year, we are in the process of completing our usual process of identifying our prize winners. Once complete these will be shared with our school community. Mr Arnold will be in touch soon with parents and carers concerning some of our special awards.

Senior Phase Learning

Note: S3 will now be S4 from Monday 4th May and should follow the senior phase guidance.

All new S4,5 and 6 classes will be notified through their google classrooms of the work to be completed.

For May we are trialling an online timetable for the senior phase to identify when pupils can message staff through the stream chat and staff will be available to respond. This does not replace the current way of working, but we hope it will add to the pupil - staff communication strategy.
