Art Deco City Napier, NZ

On Tuesday 3rd February 1931, a huge earthquake destroyed most of Napier. The town was rebuilt over the next 3 years in the architectural style of the day. In the 1980s some interested locals realised their city contained lots of examples of wonderful Art Deco buildings and a movement started to protect them. Since then, many new buildings erected have kept to the theme, giving Napier a 1930s atmosphere!
