Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgesville, Kentucky

His childhood was rough, his mother passed away when he was 9 years old and he moved to 3 different states (Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois) during his childhood. He tried many different thing during his childhood but ended up deciding to study law.

Abraham Lincoln had very little formal education while he was growing up in Indiana, but whenever he had the chance to read he would. In his early 20's Lincoln started to study law and got a seat on the Illinois state legislature.

When Lincoln ran for office his party was the National Union Party, which was Republican. The party was formed because some people did not want re elected. The only other president in this party was Andrew Johnson.

Abraham Lincoln had a strong focus on slavery during his campaign. His campaign was so into slavery that when he was inaugurated as president in 1861 7 states left and formed the Confederate States of America.

Lincoln was the 16th president. Who served for 4 years.

One of his major impacts was he started the civil war and his side won it. Another impact was he signed the bill to abolish slavery after the civil war. A famous speech he delivered was the Gettysburg address during the Civil War.

Lincolns legacy was overall positive as he was the first to try and abolish slavery, and is one of the 4 presidents on Mount Rushmore.
