According to the National Diaper Bank Network

5.3 million children in the U.S. aged three or younger live in poor or low-income families.

1 in 3 American families reports experiencing diaper need.

Diapers cannot be obtained with food stamps.

Disposable diapers cost $70 to $80 per month per baby.

No state or federal child safety-net program allocates dollars specifically for the purchase of diapers.

Without transportation, buying diapers at a convenience store rather than a large “big box” store can significantly increase the monthly cost of diapers.

Infants require up to 12 diapers per day, toddlers about 8.

Babies who remain too long in a soiled diaper are exposed to potential health risks.

Most childcare centers, even free and subsidized facilities require parents to provide a day’s supply of disposable diapers.

Cloth diapers are not accepted at the vast majority of child care centers. Many parents cannot go to work or school if they can’t leave their babies at child care.

On May 13th, 2017, Green Bay Doulas will host the 2nd annual No Child Wet Behind (501c3 non-profit organization) Diaper Drive and 5K run + 1 Mile Family Fun Run.

We are working to get diapers to low income families in Green Bay and surrounding areas as well as community outreach organizations who need them, and can’t wait to make a real difference. In addition to children’s activities, food and more this community event will bring together our many supporters and partners in order to raise awareness about the many families in need of clean, dry diapers throughout Green Bay.

Green Bay Doulas has partnered with Brown County United Way to raise awareness for these babies and families. All diapers and a portion of the proceeds will benefit this amazing organization. We are looking for involvement for our local community as well as national retailers with a presence in Brown County, and hope you will consider joining us in a leadership role at this event by taking out a sponsorship, donating diapers, or simply spreading the word.
