The Deans of UNMC Say "Thank You" to all Alumni

Take a look at what we have been up to and see what is coming soon!

The Alumni Association, along with the UNMC Campus Wellness Program, led by Steve Wengel, MD '86, '90, created this mini-series. These short videos are meant to provide viewers with a daily dose of positivity, perhaps laughter, helpful insight for life or just a pleasant time-out from the daily norm, all while showcasing the talents of our faculty, staff, students, fellow colleagues, and alumni. To get involved or learn more, send an email to alumni@unmcalumni.org.

The UNMC and UNO Alumni Associations teamed up to produce eight Facebook Live events that were held April – June to address various topics surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Watch any of the sessions here.

We are holding another session on Wednesday, September 30th, from 12-12:30 PM (CDT).

Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, UNMC & UNO Chancellor will discuss the recent start to the fall semester for both campuses and answer questions from the audience. You may submit questions by emailing or ask them in the comments during the virtual event, which will be streamed via Facebook live. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will need to email your questions in advance, otherwise, you can watch the event without a Facebook account.

On September 30th at 12 noon (CDT), you can watch the event here.

The dean of each UNMC College provided a 30-45 minute zoom webinar in June or July 2020 for alumni. Each session featured college updates and then question and answer time utilizing questions submitted either in advance by alumni or during the session.

Zoom Reunions Available for Alumni to Connect

As you may already know, Alumni Reunion Weekends scheduled for 2020 have been canceled. In 2021, we will host honor years from 2020 along with the 2021 honor years for Alumni Weekend in Omaha, for the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and the Graduate Studies Program. For example, we will celebrate the 50 year anniversary for both the class of 1970 and 1971. The College of Dentistry will also recognize 2020 and 2021 honor years during their October 29, 2021 Alumni Reunion in Lincoln.

While we cannot physically be together this year, we do have the ability to host virtual class reunions via Zoom. If you would like to have the Alumni Office help coordinate a virtual reunion, email alumni@unmc.edu or call 402.559.4385.

We are planning some exciting virtual and digital initiatives to recognize honor year alumni, as well as our 2020 alumni award recipients this fall, so stay tuned for more!
Please note that this is only available for those who live in Nebraska.

Show Your UNMC Pride With a Specialty License Plate!

UNMC has worked with the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to offer the specialty license plate featured above. This proposed plate has been approved by the DMV, but 250 applications are necessary for the state to begin manufacturing the plate.

If you are interested in learning more or requesting a license plate, please click here. Each applicant must commit to paying the $70 fee annually for this special plate.

Class Notes by College

If you submitted a class note and do not see it in your College's section below, it will publish in UNMC’s fall edition of the Connect magazine. The magazine is mailed to alumni, if we have a current address for you, and available online here sometime after publication. Due to publication space, we were unable to run all class notes in the sections below. If you have news to share or contact information to update, please do so here.
