Drawing and Painting Ryan Langs art portfolio

I think I did my best stretching and exploring in my water color piece. I feel like this was my best because of all the different techniques I explored, but also because of the stretching I did with the different poses I had and how to fit them together.
My original idea for the gif anaimation changed only in the background, I wanted to do someone with an umbrella. However, I originally wanted to go a complete wet on wet background. With the help of my group we came up with a better idea to make the background look like it is raining and that they person is moving through the rain. I think that if I didn't have the help of my group I probably still would have gone in the direction of person spinning with an umbrella, however I think that I would have gone in a different direction with the background. I don't think that I would have added the crayon lines and rain drops, I think I would have left that out.
I would say out of all of the projects that we have done so far this year, that my charcoal drawing taught me the most. I learned a lot about making highlights, and making areas darker to make it more realistic. I learned that charcoal is not as easy as it seems. I have seen people do artwork with charcoal and they make it seems so easy, but I have learned that is not the case. It was fun to use, but also hard because you had to constantly make sure that you weren't smudge ing another part of your piece if you moved even just a little bit.
I would say that my silk hoop is the piece that I am most proud of. I think that all the different techniques go really nicely with each other, and that the colors that I picked look really nice together, and I'm just really happy with the end result of this piece.
One thing that I would like to improve on is my drawing skills. I think right now I am okay at it, but there are some improvements that could be made to better my skills and I hope to do that during this class.
