Newsletter 25th SEPTEMBER 2019

Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia Orana, Fakalafa lahi atu, Namaste, Ni sa bula vinaka, Konichiwa

This is the last newsletter from an action packed term three. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our school community. In particular those of you who have contributed by being on the Board of Trustees and parents who have supported our learning programmes, events and sports teams.

A highlight for me this term, was when the Year 6 students attended the 3-day outdoor education adventure at Camp Adair in the Hunua Ranges. Thanks to all the parents who gave up their precious time to support the 85 students who attended the camp. Thanks also to Ms Malcolm and the wonderful Year 6 teaching team who spent countless hours organising this adventure. I was very proud to observe the students’ fantastic attitudes throughout the three days.

House Mufti Day Friday

End of Term 3

Just a reminder - Friday 27th September is the last day of term 3. School finishes at 3pm. It's also going to be a house mufti day. Children can come to school wearing their house colour.

Thanks for your fantastic support throughout another action packed term at Chapel Downs.

Full School Assembly

On Friday the 1st November we are holding our first full school assembly for term 4. Our amazing Chapel Downs Pacific Island group will perform.

Please feel free to pop along and help us celebrate student success.

Sun Smart

A reminder that all children are required to wear our school hats while outside during term 4 as part of our sunsmart policy. Sunhats are now available from the school office for $12.00. Students can wear black leather sandals or black school shoes in term 4.

Enrolments

If your child is turning 5 in the next 12 months (born in 2015 or 2016) please ensure you enrol them as soon as possible. With the roll steadily growing at Chapel Downs this will enable us to keep a track of how many New Entrants we can expect in the future. Enrolment packs are available at the office. Our term 4 New Parent Information Morning will be held on Thursday 14th November at 9.15am.

Dropping Children Off

Dropping children off as close to the school gate as possible may be convenient for you, but can cost another family a lifetime of pain and suffering. All our children deserve the chance to grow up and experience life to it’s fullest.

Parking restrictions are in place near Chapel Downs for a reason. They protect our communities’ children.

 Always observe all parking restrictions near our school.

 Do not park across the drive ways or on yellow lines

 Always use the school patrol crossing

 Choose safety over convenience at all times

 Walk to and from school with your children when possible

Because of increased traffic at our Chapel Road pick up zone we have decided to close the Chapel Road entry from 3pm till 3.15pm. Thanks for your support.

Intermediate School Enrolment

Just a reminder to all parents of Year 6 students - it is now time to get your enrolment process under way for Intermediate in 2020. Please check each school's website for enrolment details. Each school has a different timeline for when in zone enrolments and out of zone applications are due.
