Earthquake in Haiti By: Khalil Reid

The earthquake that hit Haiti was a level eight earthquake. About 1,000,000 people were affected by the incident and about 100,000-160,000 people were pronounced dead after the incident. The community was also hurt really bad, over 250,000 homes and over 30,000 commercial buildings were either damaged severely, or destroyed completely. Haiti is still recovering from the terrible earthquake that took place on January 12, 2010.

Before Haiti endured this terrible earthquake, the country was already in recession and was still poor. However this incident made there poverty levels worse than they were because now the country has to spend more of its money on rebuilding the 250,000 homes that were destroyed in the catastrophe.
