2019 NJCAA DIII Men's Tennis Championship March 10-12, 2019 | Peachtree City Tennis Center | Peachtree City, GA

Oxford Emory clinches record-setting fifth consecutive DIII championship

With four singles titles and a pair of doubles championships in hand, Oxford Emory claimed its fifth consecutive NJCAA DIII Men's Tennis Championship, setting a new DIII record for most consecutive titles. The championship is the eighth overall for the program, extending the Eagles' NJCAA record for most team titles. Oxford Emory tallied 33 team points to outlast second-place Onondaga during the three-day event at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, GA.

Oxford Emory took home No. 1, 4, 5, and 6 singles while also capturing No. 2 and 3 doubles to earn its eighth overall national championship

Sophomore Julian McCarthy of Oxford Emory, the 2018 No. 3 singles champion, was victorious in No. 1 singles to repeat as an NJCAA All-American.

McCarthy endured an intense championship match with Onondaga's Sebastian Perez but outlasted his opponent 7-5, 6-3 to end his career at Oxford Emory with a second-straight national championship.

Rowan-Gloucester finished in third place with 13.5 team points, the Roadrunners' 10th consecutive top-three finish. Oxford Emory's fifth consecutive national title broke Rowan-Gloucester's previous record of four-straight titles from 2010-13.

Charles Jenks, NJCAA Tennis Hall of Fame indcutee and former Florida State-Jacksonville head coach presented the Coach of the Tournament award to Pernilla Hardin, his former player.

Onondaga finished as runners-up at the national tournament, the program's best finish since its national championship performance in 2008. The Lazers improved on their seventh-place finish at the tournament from a year ago.

Onondaga was led by No. 2 singles champion Jeremy Attrill (right) and No. 3 singles champion Ezequiel Martin. Attrill teamed up with Sebastian Perez to claim No. 1 doubles as the Lazers finished the tournament with 28.5 points.

Along with McCarthy's No. 1 singles title, the Eagles were led by singles championships from Kevin Yan (No. 4), Orest Los (No. 5) and John Funda (No. 6) - all freshmen on this year's roster.

McCarthy teammed up with Yan to capture No. 2 doubles while Los and David George rounded out the championship flights for Oxford Emory in No. 3 doubles.

Ocean County boasted a fourth-place finish behind freshman Robby Fuggi's runner-up finish in No. 6 singles. Fuggi was the lone participant not on Oxford Emory or Onondaga's roster to compete in a championship match.
