Spring 2017. This class is designed to help prepare students for meaningful communication careers in the nonprofit world.
For many years, nonprofits relied on traditional crowdfunding strategies to cultivate donors and raise money. Today, however, nonprofits of all shapes and sizes are shifting their fundraising strategies to reach donors where they spend their time: online.
This class will explore the intersection of nonprofit fundraising and donor cultivation in the digital age, with a special focus on strategic storytelling.
Students will work for real nonprofits to develop comprehensive online fundraising campaigns, featuring tactics like email appeals, social media content and multimedia crowdfunding pages.
Through the lens of storytelling, we'll take a look at issues impacting fundraising today, including the challenges and opportunities of cultivating relationships with donors online.
Guest speakers: Students will have opportunities to hear from and engage with nonprofit leaders in the Pacific Northwest.
