2018 Thunderstruck93 Preview

Today the 10th annual Thunderstruck93 race event will be held at Elko Speedway. This event is in memory of Dan Ryan and supports the battle against ALS, the disease that took his life.

This year the 93 lap main event will be a Big 8 Series sanctioned race and will feature many of the top Late Model racers in the Nation. A competition caution will be called after lap 39 where teams can add fuel and make adjustments but not change tires. Dan Ryan was number 39 and 93 during his racing career.

Race fans should expect to see race teams from as far away as Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois competing for the unique and prestigious guitar trophy that goes to the winner, top Minnesota teams and ELKO drivers will also be well represented at Thunderstruck93.

Another big part of Thunderstruck93 in 2018 will be the Genz-Ryan Thunder Car Championship night.
#37 Bryce Blohm from Lakeville (MN) holds a slim 9 point lead on #32 Jeremy Wolff from Chaska (MN) with #25 Eric Campbell from Lonsdale (MN) with a 20 point deficit and not out of contention. The Thunder Cars will race two 20 lap feature events for Thunderstruck93.
The Pepsi Power Stocks and Eternity Homes Great North Legends will also be racing double features plus special Box Car racing for the kids during intermission.
Gates open at 4pm with the ever-popular on-track Driver autograph session from 4:30pm-5:30pm. Qualifying begins at 6pm and racing at 7pm for the 10th annual Thunderstruck93 on Saturday, September 22nd at Elko Speedway.
