Fluffybal Island A land full of fluffy balls and danger!

What dangers do you see as a person stranded on this deserted island. Be specific and explain your answer .
The island of fluffybals

As a person stranded on this island the dangers that await me would probably be the unknown creatures on the island. I wouldn't know what be waiting for me once i put my guard down or the climate it could be a weird island so i wouldn't know if it would snow the next day or if it stays hot the whole time, plus food wise i would need to hunt and rashen suplise so it would be hard i could die if i make one wrong move, and the dangerous animals on the island could eat my food while i'm sleeping or could possibly get me while i'm sleeping.

Create a list of characters from the novel The Lord of the Flies and add details about them using textual evidence from the novel.
  • Ralph - fair (8), 12 yrs old (10), arrogant (didn't ask Piggy his name (11))
  • Piggy - Fat (8), 12 yrs old (10), obnoxious (wines a lot in most of the story (1 -31))
  • Jack - Ugly but not silly (20), 12 yrs old (10), arrogant (he is really stuck up (20))
  • Simon - Peace maker (42), 12 yrs (10), generous (is fair to everyone (42))
  • Sam and Eric - silly twins (20), 12 yrs old (10), chunky ( tow headed (23))
  • Roger - Creepy (60 -62), 12 yrs (10), weird (doesn't speak much (60))
Type the rules we created as a classroom from the board. This is something we will return to. In the meantime, pick the rule you find most important (from the ones we created) and explain why that rule, above all others is most important on this island.
  • 1. Travel in 2 or more pairs
  • 2. Don't go out at night
  • 3. Share resources
  • 4. Clean up after yourself
  • 5. Communicate effectively
  • 6. Do your job
  • 7. Do not kill each other

Out of all the rules on the island in the lord of the flies i think share your resources is the most important. B/c if all the food or fresh water is gone no one would survive. Plus sharing with everyone could really benefit if the people who are sharing don't get along they will in the end. It will be good cause if they share and save rashines then all of them will survive. But if they don't then it will not be good they will start to die out and they will start fighting over the food then no one will get saved.

Rules don't matter on an island
One of the themes of this novel is survival. Explain why the setting of this story adds to or contributes to the theme.

Since survival is the theme the setting on a stranded island would be natural. And you have to survive you would never know what supplies would be limited. It contributes to the saying survival of the fittest cause what happens if an unknown animal comes and you get hurt by it. Survival adds on to this feeling when you know your all alone. And they keep talking about a beast that isn't good. The kids keep getting scared and they don't know if they will be saved. So either way they would have to survive with the beast on the island if there is one.

Ralph has said, “This is a good island” (Golding 35). Ralph’s pronouncement will prove ironic; it is definitely NOT a good island. This is an example of foreshadowing. What problems do readers already know about? Explain why these problems prove this is NOT a good island after all.

In the Lord of the Flies we find out this is not a good island because in the chapter it says that the snake like thing on the island almost hurt the boys, and the mole berry boy dies because of an accident with a fire. Also there are sharks that surround the island so they cant swim off the island talk about worst stranded island experience ever. So these boys aren't really surviving very well some of them cant even get along well so who knows what could happen next. Also they probably wont be saved until a while b/c of the war and most of them have lost hope. And there ends up being a beast on the island witch is not good for them.

Symbols are physical things that represent abstract ideas. The following are some of the symbols from the novel The Lord of the Flies.
  • Meat symbolizes the temptation the boys face on the island.
  • Simon symbolizes goodness when he is fair with everyone
  • The conch represents law and order so people can listen rules that apply to the conch
  • Platform represents democracy so they have a place to have a meetings to place rules
  • Piggy represents civilization b/c in the text Ralph says that piggy might not be good at leading but he has brains so he could be all the civilization they need
  • Anonymity symbolizes painted faces b/c they use it to hide their faces
  • Smoke represents the rescue b/c in order to get saved they need someone to see the smoke
  • Piggy's glasses symbolize survival b/c without them that means no fire and that means no smoke so no rescue
  • The island represents isolation b/c on the island there is no one else no other people no other civilians
Describe the Beast that seems to be stalking the island. Use the text as backup for your info.

In the text on page (36, 86, 88, 90, 99, 100) it says that the bestie was trying to eat them and was ugly looking. They also said it looked like a snake thing then they started saying that it might be a ghost and it might be haunting them. They started describing it as a twisty thing all of them keep seeing different things when it comes to the beast. They also described it as a squid then Sam and Eric described it like this it had wings it was furry and there were eyes teeth claws and it kind of sat up it was awful.

Maybe there is a beast... Maybe its only us
Name at least two things the boys are doing or have given up that show how they are now operating on instinct and no longer trying to follow the rules of society. Explain your answers with information from the text.

In the text it says on page 108 that all of them were arguing with Ralph about going to the mountain none of them would listen, and Roger states that they have plenty of time he doesn't think that they will be rescued most of them gave up on that hope. And even though Ralph said that whoever has the conch can speak at the meeting no one listen they were snatching the conch and when piggy tried to talk when he had the conch no one would listen, plus jack even said sucks to the conch they all left after that and if Ralph blows the conch again no one will come so there was no point the conch had lost all of its power.

Two rituals people are most familiar with are weddings and funerals. Pick an event (a wedding or a funeral). Make a list of at least 3 phrases people use at the event you picked. Using one of your phrases, explain why your phrase is helpful in the situation.

The ritual I chose is a wedding three phrases people use at weddings are you may now kiss the bride or in sickness and in health and lastly congratulations on your marriage. The phrase "you may now kiss the bride" is helpful in this situation because it give's you a sense that the wedding is over, That now the one thing that separates you is gone you are finally together. Through sickness and in health you will be together and you will not part until death. It gives you a sense that you will finally have a long life together the weddings over and that is the first kiss since they were married so it is very helpful.

Choose a character, either Ralph or Jack and explain the effect seeing the Beast has on the character you have chosen. Use textual information to support your answer.

The character I chose that was traumatized by the beast was Ralph, The effect of seeing the beast had on Ralph was traumatizing he was so scared that he "bound himself together with his will, fused his fear into into loathing and hatred". In the book its says that Ralph "found himself taking giant strides among the ashes". They started running for their lives cause they saw the beast.

Retell in your own words what has happened to Simon. Use textual evidence to help you create a vivid paragraph.

What happend to Simon was awful, On Page (152-153) They slaughtered him when all he was trying to do was tell them the truth about the beast but none of them took a second look at what they were trying to kill slaughter it was terrible in the text it says that they "lept on the beast, screamed, struck, bit , tore. There were no words, And no movements just the tearing of teeth and claws. They were like animals the kind that are thirsty for blood, and not the kind that's cute but the really bad ones.

In life people create groups. These groups might be at school, in sports, in extracurricular activities, and through religious organizations. Explain what needs groups fill for people. Explain both the positive and negative aspects of being part of a group. You may relate this to our novel, or you may make it a person reflection of your own experience.

In life people do create groups these groups can sometimes be good or bad. The good parts of a group is the confert people give you in those groups i know out of experience but sometimes you can fight in a group, and sometimes it turns you against each other so that wouldn't be good. Groups can give you help anytime you need it and when your in a group its like your facing the world together. Now the bad parts of being in a group is that when one person gets mad at each other the whole group gets mad so it turns your friends against each other, and the sad part about it is that if you are in that group then you could break up that wouldn't be good, plus in the end if your still in middle school or high school eventually your going to have to break up the group cause you wont see each other again and that would be really sad having groups is both a great and bad thing there are consequences to what you do together sometimes you will fight but in the end your still friends even if you move or something like that or you can be like me you can be in many different groups not just one it would be fun.

“Which is better - to have rules and agree, or to hunt and kill?”
I chose rules and agree
Using this quote, take a stand. Pick a side and explain why your decision is best on this island here at the end of Chapter 11. Don’t forget to use textual evidence to support your answer.

In the quote it says to kill and hunt or to have rules and agree, I would choose to have rules and agree. The reason i chose this was because in the text it says they kill the boy with the mole berry mark and slaughter Simon and murder piggy and was about to put Ralphs head on the stick in the text it says " Roger sharpend a stick at both ends" it was really bad. Now if they kept the rules and followed Ralph's orders and kept the fire going no one would be dead except the boy with the mole berry mark he is way past to late to be saved and Simon nor piggy would be dead the lord of the flies wouldn't be around and everything would be fine except by being stranded.
