The Flame

Fire has been a powerful force in our human history. As a tool, it has served to help us master our environment literally bringing us from the cold dark into warmth and light. As a symbol it has served as a metaphor for passion, purification, consumption and enlightenment. “The Flame” is work that reflects those universal aspects of fire and its force in our literal as well as psychic/spiritual world. Its focus is to reflect on the reality of fire in its totality and draw upon the depth of its essential essence both as a force of nature and inspiration.

"What is to give light must endure burning." ~ Viktor Frankl
The embers quietly glow within us; our work is the breath, the wind that ignites the flames." ~David Ulrich
"Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire." ~Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
