KB NEWS 17th March

It's hard to believe another fantastic term of learning has come to an end in KB. We concluded our Unit of Inquiry on 'Plants' with a field trip to the Botanic Gardens. The learners broke into small groups and explored the many 'magical' secret paths the gardens have to offer. As they walked around the garden I heard many conversations as the children pointed out the different parts of plants.

During the week the learners also enjoyed watching popcorn pop. We had a discussion about where popcorn comes from and most knew it came from corn which grows on plants. There was great excitement as they heard the first kernel pop and it wasn't long before the learners could smell the wonderful scent of popcorn cooking.

In Maths the learners have been focusing on "time on the hour". The children were all given a small clock and then had to listen carefully to a story about time. When "o'clock" was mentioned in the story the learners had to move the clock hands to represent that time.

Matilda asked if she could show the class some Irish dancing that she has been learning...and what a great job she did! We learnt that during Irish dancing you keep your arms by your side and kick your legs.

On Thursday the whole school came together to celebrate Diversity Day. It was wonderful to watch the parade of flags representing the many nationalities at Nexus. We were treated to a showcase of international performances from the learners.

I hope you all have a safe and relaxing holiday!

See you all back at school on the 3rd of April.

Regards, Lyn and Clara
