This week to celebrate Earth Week we enjoyed the weather outside, we made crafts out of recycled materials, and went for a beautiful hike on Friday!
To help our earth a little this week, we created some recycled crafts. Using broken and mostly unusable crayons, we created colorful repurposed crayons. We also had a creation station on Wednesday, where the after schoolers were given miscellaneous objects, they could create into whatever they wanted. We hope these crafts inspire the after schoolers to think outside the box and use what they have to create fun crafts.
We love watching our after school monkeys climb on our jungle gym.
Swimming is so fun when it is hot outside! We are so happy there was nice weather this week to enjoy the pool!
For clubs this week, we split up into flag football and art club. Outside at flag football, the after schoolers picked their own teams, created a chant and enjoyed passing the football and guarding the other team on the field. Inside, the art club focused on pastels. Many sketched with pencils and shaded using the pastels to create beautiful pictures.
This week, we played with doll houses, play-doh and everyone's favorite: crazy forts!
This Friday, we left the community center and went on a walk to the park near Miller Creek Middle School. We packed up our snacks and juice and headed out along the path near the creek. We stopped for snack under the trees by some picnic tables. When we reached the park, we played on the playground and swung on the swings. We headed back to the community center and played outside for the rest of the day! We hope you all have a beautiful earth day tomorrow-it should be gorgeous weather!
