Sweet Ginger Restaurant Review Kelly Merrifield

Sweet Ginger is a Thai restaurant located in Merrimack, NH. Since the last time I have been there, they have made huge improvements. What used to be the whole restaurant is now the bar area. They have expanded the restaurant to more than twice its original size.
The golden tones throughout the restaurant make for a very warm and inviting atmosphere. The tables and floors were clean. The waitress was also extremely attentive and friendly.
Looking at the drink menu, there was a wide variety of options. i wanted to choose something I don't have often. For my second time trying Boba tea, I chose the honeydew melon flavor. The price was higher than I usually would spend on a drink. However, what you get for your money is well worth it. For those who don't know, Boba tea is made from milk, black tea, sugar, ice, flavoring, and tapioca pearls.
I decided to taste two appetizers. The first was chicken satay. The chicken was very tender and was served with a nice peanut sauce and a cucumber salad. The appetizers were delivered to the table efficiently and were very hot and fresh.
The second appetizer was called wonton delight. This was a fried wonton filled with minced chicken and shrimp served with a sweet and spicy sauce. I absolutely loved these with the sauce. However, without the sauce, they did not have as much flavor as one would have hoped.
My main course was Sweet Ginger Chicken. In restaurants, I often find that they either over or under-cook their vegetables. However, this place does it right! This was my first time experimenting with rice noodles; so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it tasted very light and pleasant. It is a good change from the usual white rice. The large piece of chicken on my plate was good. The only problem was that it was exactly the same chicken that I just had as my appetizer. As a suggestion, I would have marinated this in the sweet chili sauce that they serve on the side rather than using the same seasoning as in the Chicken Satay. This way, it would be different and would taste sweet as the name on the menu promises. Other than that, I was very happy with my meal; the presentation was nice, the plate was colorful, and everything tasted good.
The Sweet Ginger BBQ pork was my dad's main course. The presentation was clean and colorful. I had a taste of this dish myself. The pork was fairly tender but was lacking the sauce that it said it would have in the description. Despite that, the pork was tasty when eaten with the peanut sauce.
These two sauces came with everything we ordered today. The sauce on the left is a more savory peanut sauce. On the right, was the sweet chili sauce. I thought this choice of sauces was nice because it allowed the option to adjust your meal to be either savory or sweet.
Any restaurant gets bonus points in my book when they give you a little candy or chocolate with the check. My experience at Sweet Ginger was pleasant. The atmosphere was calm as well as quiet because not many people were there. The staff was attentive and always gave a smile. The food was good and wasn't heavy or greasy. As restaurants go, the prices were also very reasonable. If you haven't tried Sweet Ginger yet, it is worth the visit.
