PHILOSOPHY ON EDUCATION

  • Teaching is both rewarding and challenging. The challenging aspect of teaching deals with the nature of how students learn. Students have different ways of learning material. To reach students in the classroom, differentiated instruction is necessary, and the understanding of multi-role learning is critical.
  • The teacher is the facilitator and leader in the classroom that promotes a cognitive and enhanced learning environment for students. The teacher’s role is to educate the students in the content knowledge; therefore, teachers should be knowledgeable and have certain skills to promote a successful learning environment.
  • Overall, when teachers are successful in promoting a cognitive learning environment, the teaching experience is rewarding. Many factors impact students’ learning environment such as: the school as a whole, parents, peers, administrators, and the students emotional and physical needs. Teachers must be engaged in not only understanding the subject matter and teaching style, but also each student’s well-being.
  • Teaching must involve the use of traditional and non-traditional factors when creating a successful learning environment. One of the best measures in making learning fun and interactive is through the use of Information Technology systems, and hands-on learning.

PHILOSOPHY ON EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

  • The growth of student cognitive capabilities can be promoted through many aspects . Perhaps student growth is best promoted through the use of technology in the classroom. Technology provides the opportunity for students to gain new skills such as: facilitating creativity, enhancing digital responsibilities, and the promotion of professionalism qualities.
  • Usage of Information Communication Technology, empowers students to enhance their understanding of the importance of ISTE standards. Also, technology in the classroom is crucial with the promotion of student learning by developing a skill set to apply real-world professional skills in preparation for future jobs and educational opportunities. It is important for each student to increase their aptitude level by designing and engaging in collaborative efforts when using technological tools in the classroom.
  • In a world which relies so much on technology, it is important for students to learn the safety measures of being a good digital citizen. Teachers must impress upon students the importance of following responsible digital citizen measures when using the internet and information technology systems. Altogether, the use of technology in the classroom is a critical tool needed to enhance student engagement in subject material, and ensuring that students are prepared for the necessary professional skills when entering future educational or professional endeavors.

FACILITATE AND INSPIRE LEARNING

MAKEY MAKEY INVENTION ACTIVITY DURING MR. KIPER'S ED 202 CLASS-- SEPT. 2016
  • Our makey makey activity was a two player gaming system with a computer screen used to play a two-person interactive game. This activity game provided the group with the opportunity to create new skills with using a computer programming software from scratch.com. The makey makey activity provided me with the knowledge that software programming can be not just behind the scenes importance, but interactive, fun, and inventive ideals being applicable in the classroom.
  • It gave the idea that students can use hands-on skills to problem solve, and create intuitive thinking process to work with peers in groups.

DESIGN AND DEVELOP DIGITAL AGE LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND ASSESSMENTS

LESSON PLAN DOCUMENT

  • Lesson plans are sometimes seen as just a written document teachers must provide to be an established teacher for others to see. However, lesson plans are the map for what teachers use to conduct essential preparation to ensure students have what they need to be involved in a conducive learning environment.
  • What I learned is that much thought should be put into each lesson. Particularly, I now understand the summative and formative assessment areas. I believe this because these areas provide the teacher with a means of understanding what children are learning. Also, without proper planning toward assessments, student reflection of what they have learned will suffer.

MODEL DIGITAL AGE WORK AND LEARNING

  • The iMovie YouTube link above shows how digital tools can be used to effectively engage students .
  • The iMoive trailer above that my group created involved a scary story about some of the most common authors from the 19th Century.
  • Each member of our group contributed by administering relative information and ideas to produce a fun video that students can use in and ELA classroom.
  • Overall, the most interesting aspect of my group's iMoive demonstrated the effectiveness of collaboration and digital tools when using video technology to introduce or review a topic. Based on the iMovie activity, I learned the importance of using digital age media to enhance student understanding of a topic, and to involve their peers and the community through creating a video.

PROMOTE AND MODEL DIGITAL AGE CITIZENSHIP AND LEARNING

  • The foundation of using technology in education is being a respectful and responsible digital citizen. Teachers should promote, produce, and enforce a digital citizenship agreement with every student in their classroom.
  • Experiencing the creation of a Digital Literacy Newsletter, has brought a greater awareness for me as a teacher to begin teaching students how to use technology devices.
  • I have also learned that proper usage of digital tools inside and outside the classroom begins with instructing students how to use technology in education by: establishing secure passwords, promoting proper digital etiquette, and establishing a proper means of citations.

ENGAGE IN PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND LEADERSHIP

Being a Level 1 Certified Google Educator

  • Implementing Google classroom, and other Google tools inside the classroom is one of the best ways to connect with students in the through the use of technology.
  • As a Level 1 Certified Google Educator, it is my goal to promote and further the learning environment by using Google tools to enhance student learning throughout my teaching career.
  • Students will use Google in my classroom to further their technological capabilities and knowledge for preparation of their future professional skills.
