Last August 2016, one of our campus missionaries met the principal of a major high school in Taguig, Gen. Ricardo G. Papa, Sr. Memorial High School (Main Campus and Annex). She oversees a total of 130 teachers and 4,200 students in both campuses. Upon hearing the vision of Every Nation campus to impart biblical principles of Leadership, Integrity, Faith and Excellence (L.I.F.E) to young people, she asked if we could partner with them to conduct a team building for all their teachers.
The team building happened in October 2016, where Ps. Jeff Eliscupidez shared to them the principles of leadership, integrity, faith, and excellence. At the end of the event, most of them made a commitment to God not just to raise godly leaders in our society but also to commit to follow Jesus themselves.
We are excited to see not just a change in the way they teach their students but also in their personal lives and in their families! It is indeed a privilege to have this opportunity.
November 2016 - February 2017
We've also done different efforts to connect with individual teachers and administrative staff on campus.
In one of the major campuses we're in, University of Makati, our campus missionaries were able to renew our partnership with the university for the 10th year with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and were able to partner with the College of Computer Science. Consequently, the LIFE Classes were approved in CCS for the next school year, 2017-2018
In Colegio San Agustin, we have likewise presented a new version of our LIFE class, called LIFE on Purpose, to the head of the junior high school Christian Living Education class, Ms. Amy Tono and to the priest-in-charge, Fr. Dante Bendoy. Although they did not approve the LIFE on Purpose class due to an existing leadership curriculum, they did assure us that they are open to partnering with us regarding speakers for their leadership classes. We still plan to tap some of the alumni we can vouch for to teach in these classes and connect with more students by helping facilitate these classes.
One of the most exciting partnerships we've had recently was an opportunity to work with the Adolescent Health Division of the Department of Health, specifically with the head of the HIV Awareness program, Dr. Gen Samonte.
The Philippines is one the countries where HIV cases are on the rise especially among teenagers aged 15-19 years old. One of the reasons is lack of education regarding HIV. Because of this, Dr. Gen's team developed a textbook material for the Department of Education to roll out among Grade 8 MAPEH students. Part of this material teaches refusal skills to students, to teach them how to say "No" to risky sexual behavior and to anything else that could lead to this, such as drunkenness and illegal drug use.
Please pray that we will be able to successfully launch the Refusal Skills Training on April 7, 2017 at the Extension Office of the Municipality of Taguig in SM Aura. There will be 40 MAPEH teachers, each representing a public high school in Taguig, who will be participating in this training. It is an opportunity for Every Nation Campus-Fort to connect with the schools of Taguig and it is the launching pad of the partnership with other local government units all over the nation. We know this open door is from God and we are excited to not just serve the nation through this training, but also to have an opportunity to introduce the teachers and students we will connect to to the ultimate solution to all our problems--the Gospel.
Thank you because your partnership is indeed going a long way to bless our nation through the next generation!
