Using EPIC during Read to Self Miss Poppen's 2nd Grade

Hello second graders and parents! I am very excited to introduce EPIC into our classroom Daily 5. Below I have created a video explaining what EPIC is and what I hope to accomplish in the coming weeks. Gail Boushey and Joan Moser are the authors of "The Daily 5" and "The Cafe Book". Through these sources I have learned that Read to self is the first Daily 5 that is introduced (Boushey 65). Before students read the book, they can first read the pictures, then the words and finally retell the story (69). By retelling the story we can be reassured that the story was comprehended by the student.
