History of Indianapolis
Indianapolis was founded in 1821 and advanced from there. Following the war of 1812, the U.S. government secured the Treaty of St. Marys in 1818 opening Central Indiana to European American settlement. Alexander Raltson assisted Pierre L'Enfant in designing Indianapolis. Lockerbie Square best illustrates Pre-Civil War Indianapolis. Michigan Road became the main north-south land route of this early era, connecting Indianapolis to Madison, Indiana city on Lake Michigan. Now going to sports, an interesting fact would be that the colts, that are so much loved by Indianapolis, were once the Baltimore Colts, but found out that they work better in Indianapolis in 1984 when they switched. another interesting fact is that Payton Manning used to play for the Indianapolis Colts.
