Thanks to a partnership with the Civil Air Patrol and Captain Angelo Rossetti, Pendergast District Superintendent, Dr. Lily Matos DeBlieux, Board members and teachers will take off in flight to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and the district METAL grant. Attendees on Flight Day will learn about the Civil Air Patrol and its mission and STEM learning in Pendergast District. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a congressionally chartered, federally supported non-profit corporation that serves as the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force (USAF). Capt. Rossetti, an active member of CAP and Pendergast Foundation member, was responsible for partnering on the $500,000 grant that will benefit 110 teachers who are CAP Aerospace Education Members, and countless students in Pendergast District as their prepare for the future in STEM related careers. All 110 teachers, as part of the grant program will receive curriculum materials and 15 STEM kits that will be on display at the event for their classrooms to further STEM education with their students.
The flights will be in CAP planes, Cessna 182’s and will take off on Saturday, April 14th beginning at 7:15 – 9:00 a.m. from the Glendale Airpark, 388th Civil Air Patrol Squadron Building at Glendale Airport, 6575 N Glen Harbor Blvd, Gate 15, Hangar 14, Glendale, AZ 85307, Gate 15 is located at the far South end of the airport.
Everyone who attends Flight Day will receive a Free PESD T-Shirt, a chance to win an Aerospace Engineering Membership (with 15 Free STEM Kits), and a chance to win a Computer or LCD Projector.
