What's NEXT? February Update

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19

"Behold, I am doing a new thing...."

2017 is a New Year and an opportunity for God to move even more powerfully in and through our lives! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season with some opportunities to rest and reflect on the past year and are excited for what God has in store for you and your family ahead! This scripture from Isaiah above has really spoken to me since being back on campus this past week. Every year, as I head back to the campuses I feel a mix of excitement, hopefulness and also expectancy for all the great things there are yet to come. At the same time, I can also feel a deep burden for so many students walking aimlessly around the campus without a clear direction in life nor understanding their true purpose. The fact of the matter is, ultimately our young people are desperately lost without Christ!!

With a student population of over 50,000 at University of QLD alone, I believe if we can change the campus, we can change the world when these students accept Christ and walk in their God-given callings. Campus ministry makes it possible to reach these students. What we are doing matters for eternity and I know our God is about to do a NEW THING in our lives and the lives of countless students!!

GRiffith Campus Outreach

There are more campuses to reach in Brisbane. In December, I asked for volunteers to help pioneer an outreach to Griffith University (another major university in Brisbane) and a potential campus ministry plant this year. Griffith has always been on my heart to reach students, especially as it is so close to our Every Nation Brisbane church in Sunnybank. I asked for some volunteers and found that there were a number of people excited to come on board to help with evangelism, discipleship and running engaging events. Some of these are current Griffith students who have a heart that beats to reach their peers on campus with the gospel!

Marius is a Filipino student who is about to start studying an Interactive Media and Design degree at Griffith University. Marius came to Brisbane over a year ago to finish his Engineering degree and to explore Australia. He met someone from Every Nation Brisbane who then invited him to church and connected him with Joemer (our ENC UQ President) who was able to share the gospel with him and Marius accepted Christ. Joemer started meeting up with Marius for discipleship and inviting him to our campus events. Marius is now passionate to communicate the gospel through evangelism and media. We are excited to equip and empower Marius to make disciples at Griffith University!

Two weeks to go until classes begin at the Universities here in Brisbane. Our ENC students and I are preparing for Orientation Week where all the first year students will check out the clubs and societies that UQ offers including our Christian club Every Nation Campus (ENC). Here is a video we put together to ask for more volunteers from our club to help with outreach on Market Day during Orientation Week. Please pray for God to prepare the hearts of the students to be open to faith conversations and ultimately for their response to the gospel. Let's believe for many lives to come to Jesus!

In January, while I was in New Zealand meeting with many of you, I was given an opportunity to preach for our Every Nation Auckland Central church on a series entitled Stand which focused on stories from the book of Daniel (Daniel 6). I hope you are encouraged as you listen to the podcast below of the deep conviction Daniel had to stand strong when faced with trials and persecution and to learn how we can engage the power of prayer for God's sovereign protection in our lives.

WHat's NExt?

On the 20th-22nd April, Every Nation Ministries will be hosting an Oceania conference in Auckland New Zealand and I would love to invite you to join us! This is a great opportunity to come together and to hear about what God is doing in and through this movement in this region and all around the world. You will be encouraged that we are a part of a global movement and together we are reaching campuses all over world with the gospel.

Thank you for praying for our many students overseas, it has been wonderful hearing many testimonies of students sharing their faith with friends and family members. Thank you also for praying for our volunteers to engage Griffith campuses.

Please pray for upcoming Orientation week and Market day that we might engage lots of first and second year students and to make meaningful connections and ultimately see God add many more students to our club.

Pray for our student leadership team for unity and a greater heart to reach their campus and fellow classmates

Pray for the spiritual climate on campus that the gospel would transform lives and shift the atmosphere of unbelief and false religions.

Finally, please pray for our upcoming NEXT Oceania EN Conference as we prepare to host campus night. We are believing for many people to come and to be encouraged and to hear where God is taking us as a movement.

Thank you so much for partnering with me in ministry! Together we are reaching people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
