Trash to Treasure Hickory Point Students Helping Animals in Shelters

Hickory Point students learned how to turn "trash" into "treasure" by making toys for dogs and cats out of fleece scraps.

Students used the scrap pieces to make small stuffed pillow toys for cats and braided pull toys for dogs. The program is sponsored by the PTA's Environmental Committee.

The fleece was pre-sewn to create a pocket to stuff with scraps. The toy also included a small bag with catnip!

Kindergarten students worked on the cat toys. The older students braided long strips of fleece for the dogs.

The toys will be donated to Orphans of the Storm.
