Eilat-Mitzpe Ramon is one of the roads in Israel, that provide a truly "road trip" experience.
As you drive up north from Eilat, the scenery of Edom mountains, on the east, make you feel as if there is no beginning nor ending to them. Be sure to stop (safely) on the way to be impressed by them.
The Timna Valley is spread out below, with all the streams and hills in it, painted in dark colors and shades and at it's center stands Timna Mountain - a mountain of granite rock in red and black. To the right and left are steep, jagged cliffs that surround the valley like a huge natural theater, and behind it the Edom Mountains rise above the Arava.
