Welcome back and Happy New Year!! The quote by Henry Brooks Adam states: "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." I thought this was perfect for the start of 2017. Each and everyone of you are impacting our students even if you don't see the results today. AVID's mission statement is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. Thank you for working towards reaching this goal with our students!
A great start to 2017 with AVID mentor training held on January 2, 2017. Mentors from Collegiate HS, Cullen MS, South Park MS, and Haas MS attended. Reminder all AVID mentors need to be trained or they will not count on your Certification Self-Study and Phase 1 Texas Data.
Tutorial Analysis Grade Reflection Form--As we move forward this semester with our AVID tutorials, please make sure you are utilizing the Tutorial Analysis Grade Reflection (TAG). This addresses AVID Essential 8.4 providing evidence for Level 2 (Routine Use) to be marked on the Certification Self-Study Report. Remember Level 1 requirements must be met before you can be marked Level 2. Level 1 requirements for 8.4 include that tutors monitor completion of all aspects of the Tutorial Request Form (TRF). The TAG form is attached to the e-mail that you receive with this newsletter link.
