Motivating Diverse Learners Through Coding

Team Lead

Teacher Learning Coop designed to allow teachers professional development opportunities to investigate, research and explore ways to use coding in our math programs. We will "explore and leverage the role of assistive technology as an accommodation and learning tool for all students" while incorporating goals for our Renewed Math Strategy as set out by the Ministry.

Collaborative inquiry contributes to both an educator's professional learning and student learning. When educator's engage in collaborative learning, the work contributes to changing classroom practice and improving efforts to support student learning, well-being, equity, engagement and belonging.

The ultimate goal is to enhance student learning and promote critical thinking skills for exceptional learners who require more differentiated learning approaches by "supporting technology-enabled learning to deepen students' understanding."

Professional Learning Goals

  • Develop a deeper pedalogical knowledge and understanding of coding, problem-solving and differentiation through shared professional knowledge
  • Integrate technology in the classroom to develop 21st Century Learners that will "Shape Our World"
  • Increase Student Engagement through Collaboration Inquiry, Creativity, Communication and Citizenship
