GJHS Student Stories

Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2nd...the birthday of beloved children’s author, Dr. Suess! Since March 2nd was on a Saturday, we celebrated on Monday, March 4th, at the Junior High! The purpose of Read Across America is motivating children to READ! Reading is a huge factor in student achievement and in creating lifelong successful readers. Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school. We would like to say “Thank you!” to HARP’s of Greenbrier and First Service Bank of Greenbrier, for donating the funds needed for our students to get cupcakes for the celebration!
Greenbrier Junior High is so proud of our students and staff who worked hard to ensure we were ranked as an A school AGAIN based on the ESSA School Index Report!!!
GJHS 9th grade students are using technology for Digital Learning Day to read to students across America! Last week, they read to elementary students at Wooster Elementary and for a school in Tennessee! In return, the elementary students read books to our 9th graders!
Greenbrier Junior High School was recently recognized by the Office for Education Policy at the University of Arkansas as a school where students demonstrated high growth on the 2017-18 ACT Aspire. GJHS received the following High School Level awards: Statewide High Overall Growth, Statewide High Math Growth, Statewide High ELA Growth, High Overall Growth Central Region, High Math Growth Central Region, and High ELA Growth Central Region.
