As the winter days get darker and shorter I tend to dream of summer to lift my spirits. This winter is the darkest and longest in my life. We have the darkness of disease, job and food insecurity, division, fear, and the struggle for families and children without the security of the schoolhouse.
When we decided to do a social distancing graduation last summer, most were skeptical. Working together OSD, OHS and the community pulled together to produce one of the most joyful ceremonies I have ever experienced. I adored being able to celebrate the graduation of some of my former second grade students.
We need to dream of our summer, work together, be kind, care for each other in this darkness and celebrate when we have summer again.
