2018 McDaniel Women's Soccer Week 6: October 2-8

Home, Sweet Home

McDaniel plays a pair of home games this week to start off October after playing six of its first eight games on the road. Five of the Green Terror’s seven games this month are at home. The only road trips include a short jaunt to Baltimore to face Johns Hopkins on Oct. 10 and a Saturday afternoon contest at Muhlenberg on Oct. 20. McDaniel is 2-0 this year at home and 27-3-2 since the start of the 2015 season.

Always Remember Your First

Hannah Schepers scored her first collegiate goal, tying the game at Washington on Saturday with 18:10 to play. On the same goal, Carly Wetzel recorded her first point. Schepers headed back a Wetzel shot and save giving the rookie an assist on the play.

10/3: F&M at McDaniel, 7:00

The Diplomats (1-7-1, 0-4 CC) enter the week on a three-game skid. Franklin & Marshall’s lone win was a 3-1 victory at Hood on Sept. 18. Since then, the Diplomats have been outscored 11-3 in three conference games. Eight different players have found the back of the net. Haley Barge and Kirsten Heine lead the way with two goals each.

10/6: Bryn Mawr at McDaniel, 12:00

The Owls (1-6-2, 0-3 CC) enter the week winless in their last six games. Since a 4-3 win over Cedar Crest on Sept. 8, Bryn Mawr has posted a 0-4-2 record. The Owls have been outscored 28-2 in three conference games this season. Emily Elmore leads the Bryn Mawr offense with three of the team’s nine goals. Ingrid Englehardt and Elizabeth Hummel have two tallies each.

Splitting Time

Katherine Carstensen and McKenna Zerbe have virtually split time in goal this season. Carstensen has started four games with a 0.99 goals-against average and .846 save percentage. She has one shutout to her credit. Zerbe has two shutouts in the other four games with a 1.25 goals-against average and .737 save percentage.
