Map Your Future Career Pathways Day FOOTHILL COLLEGE SUNNYVALE CENTER - MAY 17th, 2017

Map Your Future (MYF) is a collective of career pathways and college programs designed to provide students with resources to explore, identify and develop their academic and career pathway goals. On Wednesday, May 17th MYF hosted Career Pathways Day at Foothill College's newly constructed Sunnyvale Center. Over 200 students from 5 partnered institutions participated in educational workshops, in-depth subject related breakout sessions and a Foothill College program fair with lunch. Industry experts within the fields of Advance Manufacturing, Engineering, Information Communication Technology, Health Sciences, and Public Services were on hand to share their expertise.

As the students arrived at the brand-new Foothill College Sunnyvale Center, they were excited to select a workshop of their choice along with their pre-assigned event schedule.

A message from the President of Foothill College, Thuy Thi Nguyen, J.D.

The Foothill College Program Fair was available for students to obtain additional information between workshops and breakout sessions.

We invited Industry Experts within the fields of Advance Manufacturing, Engineering, Information Communication Technology, Health Sciences, & Public Services.

Moderator Staci Lyons from Invent Your Future introduced the panel consisting of Davis Lemos from SamTrans, Mitch Krause from LinkedIn, Cynthia Temesi from Cisco, Mike Gainer from Google, Kevin Kwei from Pharmacyclics and Alexander John from Arete Strategies.

The Foothill College Paramedic/ EMT Faculty & Students explaining the program

Students witnessed the detrimental effects cigarette smoke has on lung tissue.

First-hand demonstrations of life-saving techniques used by an EMT in the field.

Christine Pham from Cisco held "The Journey of an Engineer" workshop with an interactive QR Code scavenger hunt.

The Foothill College Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program

Neelam Jha, a part-time instructor from the Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program explaining the course curriculum.

San Lu the Disability & Compliant Supervisor assisting Neelam Jha with "Prescription Jelly Bean Pills" for the students, side effects may include smiling and laughing.

Mitch Krause from LinkedIn demonstrating how to maintain a professional brand on social media and how to network with working professionals.

The Foothill College Veterinary Technology Program

Students met the Veterinary Technology ambassadors Falcor & Barnabe.

Servane Demol Founder & CEO of Code For Fun held the "3D Modeling Programming with NCLAB" where students could create and save objects to be printed on a 3D printer.

Lunches Provided by the Southwest Bay Area Regional Consortium (SB 1070)

On their lunch break, students were encouraged to ask questions, network with faculty, industry professionals and other students. Lunch time activities also included registering for the grand prize raffle and taking selfies with the giant Instagram sign.
