By 1612, when he returned from Stratford to live the life of a prosperous retired gentlemen, Shakespeare had written thirty-seven plays, including such masterpiece as Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth (Anderson 777)".

Quote #3:"Shakespeare wrote at least 38 plays, two major narrative poems, a sequence of sonnets, and several short poems. His works have been translated into a remarkable number of languages, and his plays are performed throughout the world (Lander)".

Paraphrase:During Shakespeare's career he wrote at most 38 plays, narrative poems, a sequence of sonnets, and many short poems. The many pieces of work that he has done has been translated to different languages, following along with his plays that are performed around the world.

Commentary:Shakespeare's work has lead to translations for number of languages. The quote expresses the influence Shakespeare work had on society because he expanded the knowledge of play writing, poems, and sonnets. Not mention, he also influenced languages through his plays that are still being performed around the world.

Quote #4:"Appeal and Influence Since his death Shakespeare's plays have been almost continually performed, in non-English-speaking nations as well as those where English is the native tongue; they are quoted more than the works of any other single author. The plays have been subject to ongoing examination and evaluation by critics attempting to explain their perennial appeal, which does not appear to derive from any set of profound or explicitly formulated ideas ("William")".

Paraphrase: After the death of Shakespeare his plays have been continually performed around the world in English speaking countries as well as non-English speaking nations . The plays have been continuing work of examination and evaluation by fellow critics.

Commentary: Shakespeare plays are being performed to this very day and being examined and evaluated by critics.Influencing today's writers and actors that examine and attain the work to improve their own work.

Middle Life:

Quote #1: "Shakespeare was one of six shareholders who signed the lease for the new site in 1599. He thus became part of the first group of actor-sharers to also be theater owners...The Globe proved to be a wise investment, and it remained a home to Shakespeare’s acting company until the religious reformers known as Puritans closed the theaters in 1642, during the English Civil War (Lander)".

Paraphrase: During Shakespeare middle life he signed a lease with five other shareholder in 1599 of a theater becoming the first group of actors to own one. The Globe theater was confirmed to be a wise investment that became a home to his company that was later closed in 1642 by the Puritans during the English Civil War.

Commentary: Shakespeare bought a theater with five other individuals to present their plays and entertain the people around them. The quote demonstrates how he influenced the world by his determination to buy the theater to express his play writing that contributed to the wide inspiration of fellow writers and actors.

Quote #2: "Parting company from Will Kemp, the bawdy clown with whom he had worked for so long, Shakespeare throughout 1599 began to write works of increasing complexity, challenging his audiences to pay attention to him rather than to the easy-listening plays of his rivals (Worsley)".

Paraphrase: Shakespeare parted a company with Will Kemp someone he has worked with for a long time. Shakespeare began to write with increasing complexity during the 1599 to give the audience a challenge, for them to pay attention to the play then to just listen to an easy play.

Commentary: Shakespeare wrote with complexity to give the audience a challenge that would make them expand their knowledge.Shakespeare made his writing complex to grab the attention of the audience and create a challenge that influences them with the knowledge of playwriting, new phrases, and viewing things in different ways.

Quote #3: "His plays were performed for all levels of society, from the nobility and the common worker, all of whom found much to enjoy in the performances. His influence on the development of the English language cannot be overstated. He coined countless words and phrases that we still use today, four hundred years later. For example, "catch a cold," "fair play," "bump," and "assassination" all owe their existence to Shakespeare (Forster)".

Commentary: Shakespeare has influenced the English language as he develops new words through his plays and poetry.His influence has shaped the English language impacting the way society speaks and writes .

Poetry:

Quote #1: "Shakespeare's first published works were two narrative poems, Venus and Adonis (1593) and The Rape of Lucrece (1594). In 1599 a volume of poetry entitled The Passionate Pilgrim was published and attributed entirely to Shakespeare("William")".

Paraphrase: Venus and Adonis (1593) and The Rape of Lucrece (1594) the first published narrative poems written by Shakespeare. Also, a poetry book called The Pilgrim that was published for Shakespeare and attributed entirely to him.

Commentary: Shakespeare's narrative poem and poetry was published in a volume of poetry that was attributed to Shakespeare. It compares to the thesis because it shows how his influence from his work inspires fellow writers to publish books in honor of Shakespeare and his poetry.Continuing to follow his work and learn from the knowledge he had.

Quote #2: "Shakespeare's sonnets are by far his most important nondramatic poetry. They were first published in 1609, although many of them had certainly been circulated privately before this, and it is generally agreed that the poems were written sometime in the 1590s("William")".

Paraphrase: The nondramatic poetry that is most important is Shakespeare's sonnets. The poems were written sometime during the 1590s and published in 1609, they may have been passed around privately before that.

Commentary: Shakespeare's sonnets that became by far the most nondramatic poetry that gave knowledge around the world. The sonnets that were published influenced the society to view things differently and gave ideas as well as structure towards the writing of poetry.

Quote #3: "In 1609, a London publisher, Thomas Thorpe, published a book entitled "Shakespeare’s Sonnets." Shakespeare had been very involved in the publishing of his plays and his long poems (Foster)".

Paraphrase: A publisher in London , Thomas Thorpe, in 1609 published a book that was called "Shakespeare's Sonnets". As for Shakespeare he was involved in the publishing of his work.

Commentary: Shakespeare's sonnets have been published since 1609 showing his involvement to spread his work around the world.His sonnets have impacted writers across the world that use his sonnets to learn, analyze, and gain knowledge in the writing of poetry.
