Artist Statement

Mayán Alvarado-Goldberg is a 17-year-old photographer born and raised in Echo Park. She is interested in photojournalism and projects with an emphasis on social justice. She also enjoys capturing pictures related to identity, travel, and her hometown of Los Angeles. In her photos, she loves to play with lighting and negative space. She loves photography because it provides a visual manifestation of her attitude towards the events around her. Past clients include the DEAFestival and United Way.
