2019 At A Glance

  • 2018 Outdoor Recap: The Flying Dutchmen finished fourth at the MIAA Field after finishing runner-up in four different events. Decathlate Josh Izenbart and steeplechase runner Benjamin Pederson both qualified for nationals.

2019 Roster

The Flying Dutchmen feature a roster of 13 seniors, 15 juniors, 17 sophomores and 18 freshmen. Hope returns two all-region honorees from the 2018 outdoor season: sprinter Justin Freeman and decathlete Josh Izenbart.

"The 4x100 relay is going to be a real feature of our team. Our sprinters are very excited about the chance to get that together. We're going to be really strong in the short sprints. The 400 hurdles is going to be a strong event for us. The middle distances runner are young but very strong. 2019 Schedule

The Flying Dutchmen are scheduled to compete in 11 outdoor meets, beginning with the Friday-Saturday, March 15-16 Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee.

Hope competes at home twice this season at Brewer Track on the campus of Hope College: vs. Calvin College in a dual meet on Friday, March 29 and the MIAA Field Day on Thursday-Friday, May 2-3.

The 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are on Thursday-Saturday, May 23-35 in Geneva, Ohio.

2019 Coaching Staff

Head Coach Kevin Cole

Kevin Cole '88 is in 14th season as head track & field coach at Hope College. He has guided the Flying Dutchmen to MIAA outdoor titles in 2012 and 2011. He has coached 50 conference champions in women's indoor and outdoor track & field and 11 NCAA Division III All-American performances.

Kevin Cole was a four-time All-MIAA athlete at Hope, twice in both cross country and track. He was a two-time MIAA champion in the 800-meter run, setting Hope and conference records in the event. He was co-captain of the cross country and track & field teams as a senior.
