The Mesa Group Employee Spotlight

Ten Questions

Meet Carolyn Gauthier

What do you do in a day?

I teach, I learn, I grow…every day. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t learn something new. Helping people unravel complex questions and issues is what I love about my job.

Who Inspires You?

There are numerous people that inspire me for many different reasons. But, if I have to choose one, I would say my Dad. He taught me to be a lifelong learner and to take every set back in life as an opportunity to grow.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I am blessed that I get to do what I love every day; work with people towards an end goal and realize that goal. Love what you do and you never work a day in your life.
"...I get excited when a project is completed and the team realizes the 'win'".

What inspires you?

A job well done. It doesn’t have to be my own success, I get excited when a project is completed and the team realizes the “win”. Nothing makes me happier than to see a project through from the start to finish, have it turn out a success, and the customer’s needs are satisfied.

What’s the best thing about The Mesa Group?

As consultants we are exposed to unique people and situations every day. The people I work with make every day great, Mesa associates and customers alike. Every person I work with is exceptional in their own way and being able to work side by side with them allows me to grow as an individual. Put yourself in the boat with the person and you build a bond as you are working towards the goal together.

What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?

I love to hunt and fish with my husband. Nothing relaxes me more than being in the woods or on the lake. My husband and I are very competitive, so nothing is done without “skin in the game”.

In five words, or less, what advice do you have for others in your profession?

Teach, learn, grow and, share.

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be?

Charlie Moore, The Mad Fisherman. He is an intense fisherman and lover of life. I am looking for a bass fishing tips so the next time Moe and I get in the boat, I could teach him a thing or two!

What’s been one of your proudest moments working at The Mesa Group?

I work hard, I play hard and I take pride in everything I accomplish at work and in my personal life. But, the day I became a Managing Partner is at the top of that list. It was a goal I set for myself when I joined The Mesa Group and realizing that goal after the first two and a half years made it exceptional.

What is the best vacation you have had?

Our first date, 32 years ago, was a Red Sox game. Every year we take a weekend and go to a couple of games and bum around Boston. Our 25th anniversary was cause for celebration, so we signed up for the Red Sox Destination package. This gave us a behind the scenes look at everything in Fenway and a meet & greet players lunch with Brock Holt. There have been other vacations that have some memorable moments, but this one is at the top because not only did I get to spend it with my best friend and the love of my life, but we spent it in one of my most favorite places, Fenway Park.
