Think Do Test Packet By Carson cunningham

The think do packet is a process in which engines use in order to accomplish tasks and complete challenges. Coach Spoddicl gave us 3 challenges using simple machines. Our job is to journal our process in completing these challenges.

Pendulum challenge

Challenge 1:

We changed the height of the pendulum so the speed of the wheel swinging would be higher and hit the blocks with more strength and knock over the blocked easier. By being higher the the wheel will drop from a higher height and have a greater velocity. We also made the bottom weigh more because without the bottom weighing a lot the pendulum will move around and not hit the blocks as hard as it could. Because it moves back when the wheel is dropped and it doesn't even hit the blocks. This pendulum failed because there wasn't enough weight in the front so it will be faster on the drop and knock the blocks down. More rubber bands on the back, and we changed the arm so it would be able to be flexible nand knock over the blocks easier. We chase an elbow in the arm so it would be flexible when we dropped it and made the speed when it was dropped higher and knocked over the blocks with all the weight in the front. It when 5/5 with ease.

Pulley challenge

Challenge 2:

We will use a crank to lift up and lower the blocks in it. We will put the string or rope over the top bar to we can crank the elevator up like a pulley and it should go down and up easily. We have to lift 3 blocks so there's gonna be a platform for them to stand and the elevator has to be strong enough to lift them. Without breaking or falling.We just started building the elevator and made a couch like place for the blocks to be held and will pull it up with the pulley we made. We're gonna make midifacations to the top because it hasn't been finished yet but we are still sticking to the plan from yesterday.

Catapult challenge

Criteria for catapult design: the catapult must be constructed enitirely of VEX IQ components. The catapult must use a lever of some kind (Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3). The catapult must launch the designated object at least on foot in distance. It must achieve this two out of three times in a group test. It must go up a foot.We made the catapult and it didn't work the first time we tried because it couldn't hold the block and it was to weak. Every time we would try to hit the catapult down it would break, it still went far though. So when we made modifications to it it was stronger and had a longer base so it wouldn't move when we hit it down. We also made a back for the blocks to sit when we would hit it because it kept falling off. We did it 3/3 times.
