I think this because most schools/teams are stereotyping Native Americans. An example is the name "redskins." According to the text Calling Redskins nickname offensive, managing editor Audrey Cooper said, " Not everyone has to be offended by a word for it to be an insult." The quote supports my claim because it shows that even though they didn't mean to offend Native Americans, they still did. This proves that most Natives Americans must be feeling offended at the momment.
Another reason I have for being against the Native American mascots is that they are the only people being used as a mascot. Would you want your race to be used as a mascot? A text that supports my claim said, "Many Native Americans are upset by the Redskins name." This quote also supports my claim because it's telling how Native Americans feel about the names. This goes to show that Native Americans don't appreciate the names as much as you think they do.
