BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our home synchronized skating team, Team Image! The Juvenile, Intermediate and Novice lines are going to Nationals in Portland, Oregon at the end of February, following a great showing at Eastern Sectionals. We are so excited for them!
To help support their trip, YFSC is holding a Valentine's themed bake sale on Saturday, February 10 during morning group lessons and the afternoon public session. Donations can be dropped off as early as 7:45 am Saturday morning. Please consider bringing a homemade or purchased baked good (ideally individually packaged) so we can give a big helping hand to Team Image. We also need volunteers to work the table - please contact us if you can help or just show up!
February 2018 Skater of the Month
Meet our YFSC Skater of the Month, Sophia S.!
Sophia is in Freestyle 3 and has passed her Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field. Her favorite skating move is Toe Loop jump and her current skating goal is to pass Preliminary Moves.
A few more facts about Sophia:
She is in 6th grade and her favorite subjects are Science and History.
When not skating, she participates in Chinese Dance, Odyssey of the Mind and Competitive Robotics.
Sophia's favorite foods are ribs, pizza, bacon and eggs and when she grows up she wants to be a doctor.

USFSA Test Session 3/14
Our next USFSA test session will be held at E.J. Murray Skating Center on Wednesday, March 14 from 1:30-5:30 (time subject to change). We will be running tests for Moves in Field, Dance and Freestyle. Watch our Facebook page and your email inbox for more info once we open registration.
E.J. Murray Skating Exhibition 3/3/18
The rink will be hosting an Exhibition on Saturday, March 3 from 6:20-8:20 pm. This is a great opportunity to show off your skills and practice programs for competition season. The event is a fundraiser for the Yonkers Animal Shelter and skaters are asked to bring donations for the shelter as their "fee" to skate.
YFSC will be holding a bake sale & raffle during the exhibition and we would love your baked good donations and time if you can spare it!
Registration forms are available at the rink office or in the email you received with the link to this newsletter. You do NOT need to be in group lessons to participate as long as you are a club member or take private lessons from a Murray's coach.
Club Ice Dates for February are as follows:
Friday 2/ 2; Monday 2/5; Friday 2/9; Monday 2/12; Friday 2/16; Monday 2/26. There is no club ice the week of 2/19 but the rink will have extra ice time for the school holiday week.
Save the Date: YFSC Club Exhibition 4/13/18
The club will be hosting our own charity exhibition on Friday April 13 from 5:15-7:15 pm. Please save the date; more information to follow soon.

YFSC is going to ISI Worlds!
YFSC plans to compete at the 2018 ISI World Recreational Championships in Marlborough, MA the week of July 23-28. We now have a sign-up list on the bulletin board at EJ Murray Rink. Please add your name if you are interested in going. There is no obligation at this time and we will be holding an informational meeting soon to discuss more details of the event.
