How RAI Digital boosted his UX thanks to Adobe Creative Cloud Alberto Comper | Sr Solution Consultant

Who’s RAI Digital?

RAI is the national broadcast TV channel in Italy
RAI Digital is the department of RAI that deals with digital media and advertising
RAI Digital has developed many applications for Smartphone and Tablet available in major app stores and many web sites to stream tv channel and news

Present

Inconsistent uniformity in terms of design between apps and websites
Poor and old fashion UX
Not intuitive

The UX internal design department is based on old tools (CS6) and an unorganized workflow

No optimised workflows
No synch between workstations and users
No collaboration's services
No tools for modern media

The Goal: Build a radically new way of working

More efficient
As most as possible “Error Free” in the use of the assets
Remove bottlenecks and wasting time for repeating tasks
Best in class tools for modern Creatives

How they did It: Introducing Creative Cloud and CC services

A streamlined workflow

Adobe Comp for fast layout sketching, and following synch with PS and ILL
Adobe Capture for creating color MoodBoard
Creative Cloud Libraries to create and share synchronised style guide between team’s members
Use of Photoshop’s Artboards for an efficient wireframing of the design’s projects
Typekit for a complete font’s freedom access
Adobe Stock for UI elements and UX Kit
Export for multiscreen from Photoshop and Illustrator at lightening speed

Some great screen captures of the new workflow

The benefits they got

Efficient access to shared resources and assets all the time updated thanks to CC Libraries
Huge time reduction in the exporting tasks for production
Dramatic reduction of mistakes because of the usage of obsolete assets
Immediate and integrated availability of high quality assets directly in the CC application (Stock, Typekit)
More efficient wireframing design
Simplyfied workflow

Improvements points

  1. Adobe XD is a promise, but still no mature. Lack of collaboration features.
  2. CC files in the Cloud forbidden because of privacy/security concerns
