Juliette Rocha is a Third Grader at Lytle Elementary She worked with her family to create a model of the solar system with a glowing design. Scroll this page to see her project and read about her learning.

The assignment was to design a model of the solar system with the planets in order. The project was one of many in a Science Choice Board provided by Ms. Bridge.

The hardest part was thinking of how I was going to make it and what I was going to make it of. I was able to get past this challenge by making a list of how I could make it and what I could use to make it around my house. The easiest part was making the planets.

One new thing I learned was the exact order of the planets. Another was a little bit about each planet as I made the model. I would like to learn more about the stars and I would like to do the project again and maybe come up with another way of designing it.
This was a fun project to make.
Juliette's mom helped her to reflect on her learning, and says, "It was a fun project that we enjoyed together as a family."

This Science Choice Board offered by Third Grade Teachers gives students a lot of choice in their learning. Ms. Bridge gives her perspective in her video.

Third grade teacher, Ms. Lauren Bridge was excited to see Juliette's Solar System Model project. Says Ms. Bridge, "Juliette is a very creative student. I was impressed with the way she put rings around Saturn. Using toothpicks to hold them up—BRILLIANT!"
