Supermarkets overflow their fruit section with all different types of apples. Lucky for all those apple lovers, these apple crisp bars will leave your mouth in a world full of incredible flavors. What could be better than our favorite seasonal fruits in the tastiest baking recipes?
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°, and taking out the following ingredients.
Using an electric mixer (a hand mixer will also work for this), beat one stick of room temperature butter and a 1/4 cup of brown sugar on medium for about 2 minutes.
Gradually add a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 & 1/4 cup all purpose flour to the mixture.
Once the ingredients are fully incorporated, begin to pack the crust into the bottom of 9x9 pan (line the pan with parchment paper or spray with baking spray).
The shortbread crust has now been prepared. Bake this in the oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the dough is slightly risen.
While the crust is baking, begin making the apple filling. You will need to wash, peel, and slice all 4 apples.
Next, add 2 tablespoons of flour and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar to the apple mixture. This will need to be mixed until the apples are thoroughly coated.
Once the crust has been baked and out of the oven, arrange the apples over it. They can be facing all one direction or thrown on top; either works.
One of the final steps: the crumb topping. To make the crisp topping, add 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt and 6 tablespoons of chilled butter to the electric mixer. Evenly spread the topping over the apples, and bake for 45 minutes at 350°F.
Once the top is golden and the apple mixture is bubbly, remove the pan from the oven. Let the dish cool before cutting it.
Make the most of your delicious seasonal apples through this simple and tasty apple crisp bar recipe.
