About Me
I'm an Aberdeen born award-winning specialist in graphite pencil and fine pen sketching, and have been crafting for over twenty years. I moved from the UK in 2010 and currently live in Jakarta, Indonesia. Inspired by animals, the built environment, and the human form. I am offering a personal commission service.
Inspiration
I am inspired by the creations of nature and the built environment. Many of my subjects are animals and people's pets. I like to get the "essence" or the "soul" of the animal I'm drawing, which helps me create a realistic impression of their characters. When sketching architecture, I switch to fine pen as my tool. Pen captures the intricate details in the shape of stone. I am in awe of the history that old buildings keep alive and do my best to recreate the finest detail in our ancient public monuments and properties.
Sketch Gallery
Fine pencil sketching is the bread and butter of what I do. The colour prints and merchandise are the results of these drawings.
Technique
I sketch on quality drawing paper. My pencils are a variety of hardness ranging from HB - 7B. I use this variety for each picture. The alteration of light and dark tone recreates the life of the animal in a way that using only one pencil could never achieve.
