Pearl Harbor - American naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii.

Japan surprised attacked at 7:55 am.

Attack lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Damaging 20 and destroying 3 American naval vessels and damaging and destroying over 300 aircrafts.

More than 1500 men died and more than 1000 were wounded.

Dorie Miller- first African American awarded the Navy Cross for his courageous actions.

After Pearl Harbor the U.S. entered WW|| the very next day on December 8, 1941

It only took about 6 months to recover from the bombing attack.

In June of 1942 the U.S. carrier fleet sank 4 of the Japanese aircraft carriers.

In August of 1945 America finally defeated the Japanese Empire.

Japan, Germany, and Italy formed the Axis Alliance during World War ||.

While Japan allied with Germany they did not take part in killing the Jews. The Japanese overlooked the extermination of Jews.

Today Pearl Harbor is a memorial for both the living and the dead.
