The Sahara desert is a desert in Northern Africa. It is the 3rd largest desert in the world ( largest hot desert in the world). It is the hottest desert the world.

The Sahara desert covers about 1/3 of Africa. It is almost the size of the USA. The square mileage of the Sahara desert is 3,552,000 sq. mi. This desert is home to 2.5 million people.

The Sahara desert is extremely warm. The highest ever recorded temperature was 136 degrees Fahrenheit. The average temperature in the Sahara is 95 degrees Fahrenheit. At night the temperature is around 89 degrees Fahrenheit.
