Is Foolishness TO THOSE WHO ARE PERISHING

NO NEED TO BE DEAD WHEN YOU LIVE IN LIFE TO THE FULL

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

A frustrating facet of ministry can be the alarming discovery that some of the most active in a religious sense are the most acidly opposed to union with God in spirit and in truth. Not only do they oppose what Paul writes in Romans 8. They can be the most active in opposition to the congregation gaining more of God.

IMMUNISED AGAINST LIFE

Religion is good at producing thousands of dead fish in the name of life

An agitated person wrote on the net after listening to a sermon on ‘being’ in God and God ‘being’ in us, ‘What about sin? Life after death? Jesus being the only way to get to Father God? What about the practicality of getting nourishment from scriptures in the Bible?’ All I hear is spiritual blah blah blah - mysticism.’ Maybe. Or is it that this person has spent a life in that which is not the Kingdom of God and never was; that here is one caught in a pool of dead fish so that the Spirit and life of being one with Father appears as foolishness?

GOD IN YOU AND YOU IN GOD

Mysticism is simply the experience of God in you. It’s what Jesus urged us to realise when He said, ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV.

God in you is mysterious because it is the mystery of life - life in the Spirit, yet life that is real in your soul, body and spirit. It's the only real life.

I in you and you in me - a human marriage and the bride of christ

A good marriage as opposed to a mere relationship involves the union of a man and a woman in body soul and spirit. Its source is the relationship in the trinity. Our relationship with God is seen in the archetype of marriage.

Just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me

Jesus did not leave us with a new way of living in the old knowledge of good and evil – even with His help. Neither did He leave us a Jesus empowered religious discipline. He did leave us a life in in Him. This is a life in His life that is not a religious life at all. This mode of existence is what Paul called, CHRIST OUR LIFE.

They are three because they are one..

It is our interwoveness with God and God's interwoveness with us that is life to the full.

This new and living way is called the NEW COVENANT and the vicarious humanity of Jesus. It means more than Jesus in you. It means Jesus AS YOU. This is meaning of the incarnation. It is what life in the Spirit can never be the gifts added to old covenant motions. It is the gifts springing from the fact that we and our Father are one. Stephen Crosby writes,

It's the new covenant!

“In the new covenant, God is not dependent on humanity living correctly to receive His life and blessing. He secures His own interests in humanity by putting His Spirit in us as a free gift of His sovereign and unmerited goodwill. The indwelling Spirit is both the life gift and the power source. Out of the life given, behavior follows. Therefore, in the new covenant our obedience is not our gift to God, which merits His blessing. Our obedience is His gift to us, the fruit of the life we have freely received manifested in our actions.” (1)

But this is not all. We get more than a program and agenda of good deeds as opposed to bad actions. We get life itself. And not religious life. We get spirit and life that is the flow of the life of God in and through us.

We get life itself!
