Our 2019 Conference will be at Augsburg University in Minneapolis and will run from Tuesday, July 30 through Friday, August 2. (Board meetings will on Monday, July 29.)
"Augsburg finds itself in a lively urban setting with the skyline of Minneapolis as its horizon and the Mississippi River as its muse." - Augsburg Professor Martha Stortz
The conference theme: “Land of 10,000 Tales”
Tales of suffering or unbounded delight, of final examinations or out-of-control administrations, exhibited in VR, AR, HD, or 4K. UFVA is our big land and our stories are more than 10,000, so in July 2019, we’ll be telling just a few of those tales, and analyzing some others, and explaining still others, in the screening rooms and classrooms of the Augsburg campus.
The Augburg Mission: Augsburg University educates students to be informed citizens, thoughtful stewards, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders. The Augsburg experience is supported by an engaged community that is committed to intentional diversity in its life and work. An Augsburg education is defined by excellence in the liberal arts and professional studies, guided by the faith and values of the Lutheran church, and shaped by its urban and global settings.
Jenny Hanson, the Director of Film and New Media, will be our host, and is looking to tell us the tale of Augsburg and her programs.
In the film program, in an average semester, students produce 200 projects in live TV, film and digital video. The transdisciplinary New Media major is designed to engage students from all fields in an exploration of new and emergent media, preparing them for achievement and scholarship in multifarious new media environments. The program fosters learning to manage change in media, creating effective expressions (communications, creative works, applications) in digital environments, and exploring the interrelationship of new media with other fields of study to understand the relationships between technology and culture.
Even more info will be coming soon. In the meantime, think about what tale you want to tell in Minnesota. We’re waiting to hear it.
