7,000 ACRES, ONE BRIDE, ONE WEDDING, ONE INTIMATE, MEMORABLE, ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME EXPERIENCE.
While The Balsams resort is not open, we have three private residences on the property which can sleep the wedding party (up to 36 people). We are currently able to host exclusive weddings from 50-150 people.
While on site, not only will you have the entire resort to yourself, you will also have private access to our private 18-hole Signature Donald Ross Panorama golf course. It is currently a walking course, with breathtaking views through New Hampshire and into Vermont and Canada - and this is just the beginning.
You will have an entire 7,000-acre private playground to yourselves (except for the moose and other wildlife that abounds) – so that you can enjoy the remoteness amidst some of nature’s most beautiful sights.
Enjoy 90km of restricted hiking, biking, or walking trails, or find yourself at one of three small mountain lakes to kayak, canoe, or fish. You can also swim in Lake Gloriette, just steps away from the Hale House porch.
Lounge in solitude by a lake, experience birding, fish for native trout, read a book, enjoy a quiet lakeside campfire with storytelling and s'mores during the evening, or simply take in stunning views of the Notch while the hummingbirds and loons entertain you. If you prefer to watch wildlife from the comfort of your vehicle, there are several roads throughout the property, two to three miles long and passable if you have an SUV.
The above amenities and use of the entire property are all included within your wedding stay.
A variety of amenities such as fireworks, extra nights on site with our Chef available, or a shuttle during your event from the residences to and from the venue are additional. For a full list of optional add-ons, please ask us to review the price sheet. If you don't see something listed that you would like to do while here, please ask us because the opportunities are endless!
Friday evening, we will serve your rehearsal dinner at the Hale House or outdoors in our rehearsal dining tent for larger parties.
This is your time to perfect the details of your upcoming ceremony, and enjoy quality time with your closest friends and family.
With many menu options to choose from, your rehearsal dinner will be a beautiful and memorable beginning to your special moment in time.
The Residences (Can Accommodate up to 36)
Hale House: sleeps 12 comfortably and includes the Chef's full executive kitchen which will be catering your entire weekend. This is recommended for the bridal party and for smaller, more intimate, weddings as it's a central location to the kitchen and rehearsal dinner location.
A beautiful lodge, the private Hale House is situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Gloriette and offers seven bedrooms, six- and one-half baths, and an enclosed porch overlooking the lake perfect for morning coffee and dining while watching the sunset reflect off the cliffs hung opposite the lake.
The house is spacious with a dining room, beautiful living room, pub room, and a private office/study. One of the bedrooms has a king-sized bed and ensuite bath, three have queen-sized beds and ensuites, one has a full-size bed and shares a bath with two rooms which have three twin beds between them.
The residence and property are of course, dog friendly, and there is WIFI and satellite TV available if you can tear your eyes away from the gorgeous views you'll have from almost every window in the house.
In the neighboring Captain's Cottage residence, another eight to 10 people can sleep comfortably and join the bridal party for meals at the Hale House over the wedding weekend.
Across Lake Gloriette lies the expansive and private Tillotson House, which was built and once inhabited by Neil and Louise Tillotson, prior owners of The Balsams Resort. They chose this particular location for the privacy and the majestic view of the Notch. This house comfortably sleeps 14 people who can also avail themselves of meals at the Hale House prepared by our Chef.
Off-site vendors & lodging
We have wonderful working relationships with local vendors to include florists, barbers, hairdressers, makeup artists, and the like. We would be happy to refer you to someone we partner with if you desire.
Your wedding planner or you will be responsible for your own favors, but we can refer you to local artisans if you would like a northern New Hampshire flair to your wedding day.
Cocktails & Photography
Your wedding photos may be taken in any of several breathtaking locations on the property. We are happy to assist you in determining the perfect locations for the photos you're dreaming of - locations you will only find at The Balsams.
Some of the most memorable locations to discuss with your wedding planner include: the Panorama clubhouse at the Donald Ross golf course which overlooks Vermont and Canada from the deck (where your wedding dinner will be served), the Great Lawn looking across at Dixville Notch, and the lawn in front of Hale House which is lakeside and facing the opposing cliffs.
Prior to your wedding dinner, you will have ample time to utilize for wedding photography while your guests enjoy hors d' oeuvres and cocktails.
If you would like recommendations for a wedding photographer, please ask.
Your wedding day dinner will be one to remember.
Dinner service includes four butler serviced hors d' oeuvres selections, a bread selection, appetizer, and salad just to start. This is all followed by two entree selections, includes french roast coffee and assorted teas, and a speciality wedding cake and champagne toast.
Dinner will be served on our fine china and silver, and classic white linens are provided along with tables and chairs, of course. If you desire something specific in terms of linens or service, we are happy to work with your wedding planner to ensure everything goes as planned.
