Next Week's Calendar

Advance ED Student Survey

As part of our accreditation process, the Troy School District periodically assesses the culture, practices, actions and experiences of our students and staff. This is measured in several different ways—through data and evidence we provide, through a visit from an accreditation team in early December and through a survey given to students and staff. Next week, all students in grades 3-12 will complete a survey asking about their experiences as a learner here in Troy. The survey, which is short and age appropriate, will be taken at school, but we wanted to let you know that your child will be asked to reflect on his or her learning environment. Sample questions might ask how often students give presentations or share their work, how often they work in groups or whether they complete work that is challenging. The surveys are anonymous and are not tied to specific students. The goal is to gain insights the District can use in our efforts to continuously improve our practice. We will analyze the results as a whole and look for patterns or areas that we can build on. There is nothing you, as a parent, need to do in this effort, but we wanted you to be aware of what will take place in our school this week. We appreciate your support and will certainly share what we learn with our community after the review is completed.

STRONG Parent Survey

As you know, we continually work to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment for your student. A significant part of that effort is integrating and reinforcing our Larson STRONG practices, which have been identified as RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, RESILIENCE, and RELATIONSHIPS. It is critically important that we continually seek out and utilize parent input to ensure that we are reinforcing character traits appropriately. The best schools are a function of strong home-school partnership. As a new year begins, we want your opinion! Please click on the link below to share your input!

A.L.I.C.E. Parent Meetings

The Troy School District is implementing the A.L.I.C.E. protocol during the 2018-19 school year. A.L.I.C.E. takes a more proactive approach in the event of a serious emergency/crisis. These protocols will eventually replace "Code Red" lockdown drills that have been conducted for many years. All district employees have started training and this training will continue during the school year.

We will also conduct informational parent meetings, which will be held at all four middle schools. The information below includes dates, times and locations for the A.L.I.C.E parent meetings. You can attend the session that is most convenient for your schedule.
