Digital Storytelling Fellowship Professional Learning opportunity

All students have a story to tell! Give them the voice they need to share their Story through Digital Storytelling!

Digital Storytelling Fellowship is a guided Professional Learning opportunity that allows participants an opportunity to become more familiar with the necessary tools and skills to tell stories digitally. As Digital Storytelling Fellows, participants go through a year of dedicated support from the EdTech Department to implement digital storytelling into their lessons. The Digital Storytelling Fellowship will be provide dedicated coaching time both in the classroom and after school to enhance their skills. In addition, Digital Storytelling Fellows with be provided with training within a focused five-course sequenced curriculum in which teachers begin to implement new tools and move from beginning to advanced levels of digital storytelling integration.


Standard 1: Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity.

"Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments."

Teachers who participate in the Digital Storytelling Fellowship will enhance their understanding of digital storytelling and will implement best practices to enhance the learning opportunities for all students. Digital Storytelling Fellows with also provide students a platform to promote learning and creativity while giving them a voice to tell their stories.

Standard 5: Engage in professional growth and leadership.

"Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources."

Digital Storytelling Fellows will enhance their professional practice by learning new skills they can apply directly in their classrooms. Through this focused five-course sequenced curriculum, teachers will be able to effectively integrate new digital tools and resources into their classrooms to enhance the learning opportunities for all students.

Technology Integration Matrix

Digital Storytelling Fellows will move from Active/Entry to Active/Transformation on the Technology Integration Matrix. As Fellows begin to feel more comfortable with the process and technology tools, they will move from receiving information passively to constantly and extensively using the new tools. In addition to moving from Active/Entry to Active/Transformation, Digital Storytelling Fellows will also have to opportunity to collaborate with other fellows and EdTech and learn with them. Fellows will also move from a Collaborative/Entry to a Collaborative/Transformation as they become me comfortable with the tools.


The Digital Storytelling Fellowship provides participant and opportunity to not only enhance, but also transform the way they teach and the way they integrate technology into their daily lessons. Teachers will move along the SAMR model by substituting old technologies in their classroom, to transforming and redefining they way students learn and tell their stories. Students will being to use new platforms to tell their stories and share them with the world.
