#NextGen six freshmen from four different statEs. meet the next generation of sooners that are ready to make an impact.

THE SQUAD

The freshman class picked some of their favorite pieces of Jordan Brand gear for this photo shoot and paired them with their favorite Jumpman shoes.

THE MUSICIAN

NYDIA LAMPKIN

6-3 // FORWARD // PALM BAY, FLA. // HERITAGE HIGH SCHOOL

LAMPKIN PLAYS MULTIPLE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, INCLUDING THE CLARINET. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF HER HIGH SCHOOL'S MARCHING BAND, WHILE ALSO LETTERING IN BASKETBALL FOR FOUR SEASONS.

COACH COALE ON NYDIA:

“Dee loves to run. She’s what the world might call an ‘undersized post’, but height is only one strand of the DNA of a post player. Dee doesn’t play at 6-3. She runs like a deer and uses her length and athleticism to counter attack bigger players who she might be going up against. My favorite thing about Dee is her insatiable curiosity. She just loves to learn. No single trait more adequately underpins a player’s foundation for success at this level than that.”

SOONER BORN

SOONER BORN

5-7 // GUARD // MOORE, OKLA. // WESTMOORE HIGH SCHOOL

MURCER WAS RAISED IN NEARBY MOORE, OKLA., AND WAS BORN A SOONER. ONE OF THE TOP SCORER'S IN OKLAHOMA HIGH SCHOOL HISTORY, MURCER WAS NAMED THE 2018 STATE GATORADE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AFTER AVERAGING NEARLY 25 POINTS PER GAME AS A SENIOR. SHE IS ALSO AN AVID MUSIC FAN AND A SNEAKER COLLECTOR.

COACH COALE ON JESSI:

“Jessi has a dangerous offensive skill set, and yet the thing that sets her apart is her competitive drive. She detests losing and I’m not talking just about games. Jessi hates losing quarters, she hates losing possessions, and she hates losing shooting games. She just scratches and claws after every conceivable advantage in whatever she is doing."

THE SHARPSHOOTER

TAYLOR ROBERTSON

5-7 // GUARD // MCPHERSON, KANSAS // MCPHERSON HIGH SCHOOL

IF YOU CAN'T FIND TAYLOR ROBERTSON, THERE'S A GOOD CHANCE SHE'S ON THE BASKETBALL COURT. WHETHER ITS AT THE YMCA OR IN THE DRIVEWAY, ROBERTSON IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW WAYS TO HONE HER CRAFT. ALWAYS KNOWN AS A "GYM RAT", ROBERTSON HAS BEEN A FIXTURE IN THE GYM IN MCPHERSON, KAN., SINCE SHE WAS A FIVE-YEAR OLD. WHILE SHE BECAME A YOUTUBE SENSATION, IT WAS TAYLOR'S ABILITY TO MAKE THE RIGHT PLAY AND HER WORK ETHIC THAT CAUGHT THE EYE OF OU'S COACHING STAFF. ALL OF THAT HARD WORK PAID OFF AS ROBERTSON LED MCPHERSON HIGH SCHOOL TO A STATE TITLE IN 2018.

COACH COALE ON TAYLOR:

“I have been incredibly blessed to coach some great shooters in my time at Oklahoma: Erin Higgins, Whitney Hand, Aaryn Ellenberg to name a few. Taylor Robertson is made in that mold. She is a true, old school gym rat — a kid who loves to play and has honed her game by spending hours and hours in the driveway imagining defenders and making game-winning shots. Her passion for basketball is unparalleled.”

THE POINT GUARD

TATUM VEITENHEIMER

5-8 // GUARD // WINDTHORST, TEXAS // WINDTHORST HIGH SCHOOL

TATUM VEITENHEIMER LOVES TO WIN. AT WINDTHORST HIGH SCHOOL, VEITENHEIMER LETTERED IN SIX SPORTS AND EARNED ALL-STATE HONORS IN BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL AND SOFTBALL. BUT IT IS THE HARDWOOD WHERE SHE SHINED, WINNING FOUR DISTRICT TITLES WHILE FINISHING HER CAREER WITH OVER 3,311 CAREER POINTS (24.7 PER GAME).

COACH COALE ON TATUM:

“I fell in love with Tatum Veitenheimer the first time I watched her warm up. I’m not sure she even made a shot, but she owned the gym — and it was a big gym. She’s a natural leader, an intense competitor, a skilled offensive basketball player and a bulldog when the other team has the ball. When people ask me what she does best, I have to say she wins. She just finds a way to win."

THE SMILE

MADI WILLIAMS

6-0 // GUARD/FORWARD // FORT WORTH, TEXAS // TRINITY VALLEY SCHOOL

THE LIST OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR MADI WILLIAMS IS LONG. MCDONALD'S ALL-AMERICAN. JORDAN BRAND CLASSIC ALL-AMERICAN. NO. 1 WING IN THE COUNTRY. SHE RECENTLY WAS NAMED THE LADAMIAN TOMLINSON PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOR BASKETBALL IN FORT WORTH. WHILE SHE HAS A DYNAMIC SKILL SET, IT'S HER PERSONALITY AND SMILE THAT SETS HER A PART.

COACH COALE ON MADI:

“The first thing I do when anyone asks me about Madi Williams is smile. She’s that kid, the kind that’s interesting and fun to talk to, the kind that doesn’t take herself too seriously. Madi is the kind of kid that grins while she fights. She’s explosive and smooth with the ball in her hand and aggressive and hungry when the other team has it. And she is incredibly comfortable in her own skin — a trait than enables her to connect with people in a sincere way and elevate every environment she is a part of.”

THE PRINCESS

ASPEN WILLISTON

6-5 // CENTER // BROKEN BOW, OKLA. // BROKEN BOW HIGH SCHOOL

WILLISTON HAILS FROM THE BROKEN BOW, OKLA., AND DOMINATED HER HIGH SCHOOL'S RECORD BOOK AND EARNED ALL-STATE HONORS. HER LEFT-HANDED SHOT AND ABILITY TO BLOCK SHOTS HELPED BROKEN BOW TO THE OKLAHOMA STATE TOURNAMENT IN EACH OF THE LAST THREE SEASONS. SHE ALSO HAS A PROUD HERITAGE AS A MEMBER OF THE CHOCTAW NATION.

COALE COALE ON ASPEN:

"Aspen’s imprint at Broken Bow will be left all over the record books and the halls of the high school. She’s a shot blocker and an impactful scorer, despite typically being surrounded at the high school level by three or four defenders almost every night. She will both enjoy and benefit from the space she will be afforded on the court at this level.”
