Population Of Elephants Julie - Math Project

For this project we had to find a topic that we were interested in graphing. It could have been increasing or decreasing so we could see the change through out the years. I Worked on the African Elephant population and how it decreased during the years weather it was because of natural deaths, food poisoning, habitats, but most of all poaching. I graphed the elephant population and I was surprised when I saw how low the elephant population in Africa is getting. and it gets lower every month.

First of all for a head up 0 is for 1800. This is how my graph turned out. As you can see the graph started out very high and first of all decreased gradually from the first dot to the second so we can insinuate that it was cause from natural deaths. Then suddenly it decreased rapidly that is where we can say the poaching started. Then it decreases gradually again that is because people started defending elephants and preserving them and also reproduction. Then the years get closer and the dots go up and down, of course the poaching didn't end is just that people started protecting.
This is the first table used to plot the dots.
This is the second table.
This is the third table,
The nest part of the project was to find a line of best fit that fits the same amount of dots each time. In this case we had to calculate an equation.
This is my working out for line of best fit #1
This my first line of best fit.
This my working out for my line of best fit #2
This my second line of best fit
This is my working out for my line of best fit #3
This is my third line of best fit.
After the 3 lines of best fit we had to make an overall line of best fit which is the purple one on the graph above.
This is my working out for my overall line of best fit.
This is my equation for my overall line of best fit.

After plotting the dots, calculating the lines of best fit, and finding the overall line of best fit we had to predict, in my case, how many elephants will there be in 2067 and how many elephants were in 2112. My graph shows negative numbers but as it is just a prediction it might not be true and on my graph it is certainty not true because according to my graph the numbers do not stop at that moment they even go up. It is predicted according to my line of best fit that in 2067 there will be -6,994,500 elephants which is obviously not true because there can't be a negative number of elephants. In 2112 according to my graph there will be -2,555,000 elephants which is again not possible. I found out these numbers by starting of at x axis with the year and following the line down.
